Maximiliano Carmona
Senior Director at McDonald’s Corporation
Max Carmona is a Senior Director at McDonald’s Corporation in the Global Design and Restaurant Development team. In this role, Max has oversight for restaurant design, including new and remodels in the U.S., as well as exterior architecture, interior design, service area design, signage, and branding.
Max attended the University of Illinois at Champaign where he received a Bachelor’s in Architecture. After working for mid-size and small architecture firms in Chicago, Max joined McDonald’s in 1989.
He is a licensed Architect in Illinois and has spent his entire McDonald’s career in the field of Restaurant Development, including eight years in a regional office (Arizona) serving as a Construction Project Manager and then in Regional Construction, prior to returning to McDonald’s Corporate office in Oakbrook as a Design Director and subsequently, Senior Director at McDonald’s Headquarters in Chicago.
Max has a passion for design and the built environment and believes that design has the power to impact people’s lives in a positive manner. Every person deserves to experience good design.
Max and his team have worked on award-winning projects such as the flagships at Clark and Ontario in Chicago, Times Square, as well as NZE Disney flagship in Orlando.
He has traveled all over the world for McDonald’s to share ideas and bring innovation and strong brand design to the U.S. In addition to his passion for design, Max has a passion for inclusion and diversity having worked on supporting these efforts throughout his education and professional life.
Besides spending time with his family, Max loves music, sports, exercising regularly, and enjoys painting acrylic on canvas and any do-it-yourself projects at home.
